Just a quick question.

Are there any banks out there that would consider me for a debit card 1 year after finishing my IVA.

Nationwide will not upgrade my flex account to a debit card and I have been informed that they do not favour anyone with any adverse reports from credit agents.

Any ideas of who might offer me a debit card?

Previously had debts with RBS, BoS, barclaycard, Abbey, GECapital, Beneficial and MBNA.

These are all showing as satisfied on my experian credit report.

Any ideas?

Good luck to you all

Try the Co-op or Yorkshire Banks.

Ahhh forgot to mention, had a coop credit card as well.

Would that count against me, I'm guessing it would!

You can but try! Once your credit record is totally clean of defaults and the IVA, then you may ok at other banks.

All you can do is to apply for one - but a debit card is linked to your bank account.

Well, I tried co-op and they've turned me down.

Still awaiting Lloyds and HSBC.

You might be on dodgy ground with HSBC as they're not known for being sympathetic.

Try Yorkshire Bank as well.

Hi All

Yorkshire bank is a no go at the moment, just been to their London branch and they've advised against applying for a couple of months.

Did they say why? They are usually ok with IVA's - especially if you've finished I would think.

I think because I was in debt to them.

Told them the truth and they said wait till some of the "balance Satisfieds" have come off.

Very helpful though.... 8 out of 10!

Jan, you will know this; do defaults go on c/r agencies after IVA notification and if they do when do they come off to record nothing?

Firms are not allowed to default after an IVA has been approved. However, some of them do.

Once the IVA is completed, it is up to you to write to the creditors and demand that they remove them. No point in doing it beforehand as your record is shot anyway!

Wow.... got accepted by Lloyds for a bank account!

Won't know till the card comes through if it's a debit, but at least I know someone wants me!
