Well ive had a phone call with alady from melanies company today, who was lovely and non judgemental. Was a bit of a shock that me and my hubby could not do interlocking IVA but oppted for one myself, need to get things sorted, and arrange a DMP for his debts, which they will help us with as well (someone they reccommend) But feel a plonker as i did burst into tears....
Feel a bit more relieved, but now got to wait for Melanie to give the ok, so will wait for the e mail tomorrow. got to sort all my direct debits out now. As soon as i know my new bank account no. Also onto a local estate agent to get house valued.

We felt exactly the same - we are with Melanie - her and her staff will do all they can to assure you - as Andy says - you are well on the way now.

Glad you are feeling a bit more relieved now Nursecrippin. That first phonecall is always the hardest part, but you have taken control of the situation and for that you should feel very proud!..

I had my first call with Melanie N in January and I too ended up in tears, I was crying so much I wasn't sure she was saying they could help so she had to spell it out for me!
You've made the right decision and the first step is the hardest.
Keep posting here for any help, support and advice you need, everyone here is brilliant and will always be there for you.

I'm sure eveything will be fine. The tears, I think are more of a relief that you've found someone you can talk too that isn't going to judge you.

Just had phone call from the debt management company about my hubby debt , but instead of the £125 the iva will allow us they want £200 he said it would keep the creditors at bay but that includes a charge for there services of 17.625%. does anyone know any other DM companies we can try as think my iva will be the lowest amount they will accept of £250 a month, so need to know we can afford the DMPas well, as im doing the IVA reguardless and they will have to fit in round me

I remember getting off the phone after our first call and I cried with relief - that there was some help out there and there was a way out!

You could try Payplan for the DMP.

thank goodness just spoke to Melanie N again its all sorted it was a little problem with my figures. god im so relieved lol, going to have large glass of wine later. hubby going to phone DMP tomorrow and get ball rolling.

So glad you getting it all sorted and as others have said you are in very good hands. Don't worry about the tears, they are relief. I cried like a baby when I realised the mess I was in, but they were tears frustration, anger and helplessness. Once I got that out of my system and made that first call, the tears I cried when I got my proposal through were sheer relief that at last I could see a glimmer of light.[:)]
