I owe 30-35K from 6-7 creditors and i have returned to uk. i have some assets maybe 5-6K and i am unemployed but i do have potential now to get employment in UK making in excess of 30K per year. I am interested in pursuing an IVA - how do i start the process?

Hi and welcome.
I presume your debts are all uk based? Until you have some form of income, you will not be able to do an IVA.
However, you could make initial enquiries if you think you can get a job soon. Visit
www.iva.com for a list of companies and reviews. Give one or two of them a ring and they will give you free and impartial advice as to all the options open to you.
What are the assets you have? Have you considered bankruptcy?

Have a chat with a person/company that can review your situation and give you best advice

The best thing to do would be to get your employment sorted out first and then look to find the best solution to be able to deal with your debts. In the meantime it might be sensible to write to your creditors to explain the current situation as a holding position.

Visit
www.iva.com, review practitiones and select one or two for a chat. However it will be best for you to have gainfulk employment prior to offering an IVA (if that is the appropriate advice given).

Problem is that i cant get a job cuz employers do a credit check and see how bad my credit is. Seems i am in a catch 22 - i need a job but to get a job i need to do something about my credit.

I don't beleive that many employers would carry out a credit check on you - of course this would depend upon the type of employment you were looking for. What work background do you actually come from?

I agree with Melanie - very few (if any) new emploers carry out credit checks - keep looking for a job - one will come up eventually. Stay positive.
