Great news[:D]
I was with the hsbc for years before my iva and found their service awful[:0]
I changed to the co op at the start of my iva and they are antastic on the phone, in branch and the internet banking is really easy.
I wish I had changed years ago!!

My wife and I opened ours with the Co-op today, we phoned them in Manchester, then went to the branch in Bolton (nearer home) to show our photo ID etc, the girl said you don't need them you've both been approved, easy. That's another step towards sorting our mess out.

Good news 1step - your day just keeps getting better!
Emma - totally agree about HSBC, we had terrible problems with them prior to our IVA.

Great news [:)]
I have applied for a current account with co-op but I applied online. I've had an email to say that they're considering my application...I should know within a few days hopefully. I wonder why they didn't approve me straight away? Did they ask you for info about your income/expenditure and other bank accounts etc? They did for me....[?]

I presume you have applied for a normal current account then Last Resort? The cashminder one (which is usually the one that people in IVA's go for) can't be applied for online.
Be interesting to see if they let you have one.

As a matter of interest, what co-op account did you opt for?
We have just applied for the basic cashminder account, which you could not apply for online and had to phone call centre to process the application.
Was a bit surprised as within the first 60 seconds I was asked whay I was applying for this account as they said it is often used by those who are BR or in finacial difficulty and then asked me outright if this was the case with us!
Even more surprised that with the details they asked for such as net and gross income, mortgage payment, council tax etc... They did an online credit check and then said.. OK your accepted and details will be in the post!
I guess a worrying start and easy finish... [^]

It was just a normal current account I think, but maybe I've applied for the wrong one. If they refuse, which they probably will, then I'll just have to ring them and ask for a very basic one, ready for when I start my iva x

You might be ok as you're not yet in an IVA, but if they do accept you, make sure there is no overdraft facility on the account. If they put one on, then ask them to remove it.

I think there was an optional overdraft Jan, I will definitely remove it....it'd make matters worse!!! I can't be trusted! lol
Thanks x

Good idea! You're not allowed one in an IVA anyway, so at least the temptation will be gone.
