Hi,
I think it depends on what sort of job you are doing and for whom. Best thing to do is to make an anonymous call to your HR Department to check or go through your contract.
With regards to your Flat mates, your IVA will have no effect on them whatsoever

Check the terms and conditions listed in your contract of employment and staff handbook, to see whether there is a requirement to disclose insolvency proceedings to your employers. I would doubt if this were to be the case.

I am a manager in a "high street" civil servant job......I informed my direct line manager of my IVA as a matter of course as although the rules state bankruptcy I was concerned that when my landlords were looking for continued references for our monthly rent etc it would appear. I have found that by having the open conversation with them they have been completing symptathic in posting me to new jobs around the district and have allowed me to stay put so as not to increase my costs etc.

Hi I’ve been viewing this site for a few months but this is my first post. I'm a civil servant and I disclosed to my line manager as a matter of course and was told that it would only be an issue if I failed to disclose, something to do with vetting, showing you are dealing with the problem is the important thing and that you are not hiding things. Our contracts only mention BR but as you are classed as insolvent for the IVA period I personally thought it would be better to be honest with my manager.

With the debts I have and the assets I dont have BR would in theory be the best option for me. I am currently being head hunted for a finance job in the civil service (its not what you know but who, so I have found out!!) where BR is not acceptable. I have been worried sick this last week thinking if I am successful with my IVA would this affect my chances. I decided to bite the bullet and ask the person. I was told that it would make no difference if I were in an IVA and that due to him being my line manager, they would just need to do a risk assessment. He told me not to stop an IVA applying for jobs.

I to am a civil servant and am awaiting a date for my creditors meeting any time now. If you follow the link you will see that it is best to be up front about your IVA applicatin since you will have to complete a security clearance every ten years no matter what.

I'm begining to think that the Civil Service needs to think strongly about giving us all a huge pay rise going by the number of us using this site.
