If i go bankrupt can you add debt after the event?
asking this as a few of you are aware that ebay are taking me to court and I most probably will have to pay them compensation, as im already in a DMP I cannot honestly afford to pay back this and Approx £50K
so If I went bankrupt could i add the ebay money after ?
Thanks

This debt would be lost under bankruptcy proceedings.

In bankruptcy you must list all debts including contingent debts so the ebay debt is covered. Regardless of the outcome the debt would form part of the bankruptcy. Make sure and list it on the paperwork.

so even if i dont have to pay ebay anything I have to list it on the bankruptcy forms, prior to going bankrupt, even though I wont know the exact amount I will have to pay them?
Thanks

You list them as a creditor for the amount you believe is owed even if that figure has not been agreed. There is a section at the end of the papers for additional information and you can explain there the details of the debt and why you are unsure of the amount.

This will be treated as a contingent creditors until the Court decides whether you owe anything, and if so how much.

You most certainly can. All of your pre-bankruptcy liabilities both ascertained or those that you don't know the amout of at this time (your ebay problem) will be taken into account.

LD, i really hope you get some closure from ebay very soon. It must be a terrible worry on top of other things you have going on in your life right now.

Lookdivine - why don't you agree a compromise claim with them, informing them that whatever happens you cannot meet any claim and will declaring bankruptcy. They might end the court proceedings which will give finality sooner!
