Hello to all,

I have been browsing these forums for a while now and have found LOADS of great info, I have just this evening contacted Melanie Giles about starting an IVA.

I have 33k of unsecured debt (credit cards and a loan) which is causing many sleepless nights as well as teeth grinding which is doing the wifre head in!

we used to be able to scrape by paying the minimum each month unitil we had our first (and only so far) child where we began to struggle. i set up a DMP worth the CCCS who were great and did that for a year but most of my creditors would not stop charging interest and would have taken another ~10 years to clear the debt. I started thinking seriously about an IVA when Mercers started harassing me with phone calls letters and home visits as well as the 10+ letters a day demanding i pay the contracted amount.

wow I've waffled on a bit! wish me luck

James

Tell me about Mercers James! They were a nightmare for me as well.

Well done for taking that first step and you have chosen an excellent company.

Interesting that your creditors wouldn't freeze interest through the CCCS, yet they are almost without exception the creditors recommended agency for helping with debts, especially on a DMP. I do see quite a lot of these cases, so you do have to wonder why the creditors would recommend someone and then refuse to freeze interest, ultimately making the whole arrangement pointless.

Regards.
