Hi all,

i basically agreed to pay my IVA off last year when i moved house. The sum was 21k. Debt Matters arranged this and parties agreed the fee. Debt Matters did nothing for 6 months then handed the account over to payplan in March 08. They have done nothing as well, i keep getting excuse after excuse about my completion statement. They blame Debt matters etc.etc.etc.

Is there someone i can complain to about these Companies without paying for Legal Fees

Hey bonnerbadger, welcome to the forum. There is someone you can complain too, I'm sure the experts will post it for you. I would try, again, to email your IP directly with your concerns. Have you paid the money over yet? Hang in there for the experts and I really hope you get this sorted soon. X

Both of the firms you mention should have a complaints procedure.
There are bodies that you can report to.

However, from experience, they prefer to see if resolution can first be reached between the parties concerned.

So, I would, in the first instance contact Payplan and ask them to provide you with details of their complaints procedure. I suspect they will ask that you write in with details of your grievance. They then have a period of time in which to answer your complaint and hopefully resolve it. If you feel the complaint is not answered to your satisfaction then they will advise you of who the next point of contact will be, possibly the Financial Ombudsman.

If you are tempted to write straight to the Financial Ombudsman without giving the other party the opportunity to resolve your complaint, then I can tell you that they will contact the party and ask them to contact you with details of their complaints procedure.

(I know this as I have been asked to deal with a complaint made directly to the Financial Ombudsman Service without first complaining to their IP.)

Before you fire off a complaint to either the IP or their regulatory body, is there anything contractual which states when your case actually has to be closed by? Of course this is no excuse for you getting fobbed off, but it may not be your IPs highest priority at the moment. Why not write or e-mail them directly with a polite letter asking them to confirm the date that you can expect to have this matter concluded.
