This is just a quick post for anyone making or about to make their first posts with a query regarding their debts. Please read this and do not think I am pressuring you to do anything you do not want to do, you will know when the time is right and believe me, you will never look back.

Lately, I seem to see a lot of people getting scared off when an expert or a member asks for a little bit more information with regards to the amount of debt, who you owe, information about your property status, ie: mortgage, renting etc.

We have all been, and some still are, in your position, we understand your need for anonymity. Every case is different depending on the factors above. No one is being nosey, we all want to help as much as we possibly can, within, our sometimes limited, field of expertise.

Sometimes we can only provide you with reassurance and an outlet for your frustration, although this is important, the real experts who post on here sometimes need more in depth facts and figures to give you the best possible advice to cater for your individual requirements.

No one will ever try to drum up business from you over this forum, they have links under their posts for if you wish to contact them, to discuss more privately, your current problems. They all give up a lot of time and free advice which is greatly appreciated by all who have asked for it. The admin on this site, are second to none, if any undesirables start to post, they are quickly removed. You will be surprised how many people have had the same worries/problems as yourself, this is where this community is priceless, they will share the benefit of their experiences to make the road less bumpy for those of us following in their tracks.

To sum up, please do not be scared off by a few questions that could help you get your life back on track both financially and personally. If you have tried to post before and have been too scared to answer a question, please don't give up, you commit yourself to nothing on here, and at the end of the day, no one knows who you are anyway, life's too short - give it a go - you wont regret it [:)]

You are spot on, as insolvency practitioners we can only advise if we have all the facts and the questions we ask are the same if you were sitting opposite us.

Well done everyone and keep it up. I didnt even know what an IVA wa before i found this forum and i now have a date set for my creditors meeting on 25th July.

Regards Steve

Fabulous post indeed.

I am well aware that we sometimes ask for information that people may not want to share on a public forum, so sometimes a poster will ask a question and then never follow that up so your reassurance to people on this matter is very important and very welcome.

Regards.

hi there .....been lurking for some weeks...already in an IVA......we have our end of second year review coming up in september..so hopefully only have three and a bit more years to go..

but wish we had found this site before we got it sorted....it would have helped us cope with all the stress during that time leading up to it all.

by reading the posts i can see that every case is different....i am still so shocked by the amounts that are owed...what is society doing ???

...ours was 90,000 plus...yet we were just ordinary folk doing ordinary things....we dont have a huge house...nor fancy cars...both are 10 years old....we didnt have the florida holidays or cruises nor do we possess any designer clothes....so i still have a real sense of shame that we were stupid enough not to see what was happening before our very eyes.....

my log in name is..."tired of life."...which really sums up the exhaustion that comes with debt.....

Brilliant post beans! I think all of us have worried about sharing our info at one point or another, but no one is here to judge - we are all in the same position, some have managed to come out the other side and their input is invaluable.

All you newbies out there watching - if you want help, you can do worse than ask questions on here. We'll help all we can.

Well said bot brilliant post [:)]

It's hard admitting it to yourself at the start never mind on the forum! But it is all anonymous and the advise freely given is invaluable and can completly change your life if followed [:)]
You will never shock us or be judged by any of us. After all we wouldn't be here if weren't in the same position. Apart from the saints known as experts [:D]

Trina,

We haven't told anyone either. I would be lost without this forum, so glad I found it.

Yes, I am the same as most of you guys out there. Nobody knows about my finance situation - yet!. So when I need to get some information I always find it here and always so informative. although there are sometimes issues I read about on here that are way over my head, but I am learning fast!

well said bot!

that was my problem for so long, i thought we were beyond help and ashamed so kept burying my head! when i finally admitted we had problems we were 160 thousand in debt! god i would never even tell my closest friend or relatives that, but you guys are different and thats what makes this site special and unique, no one judges just helps and supports!

so all you newbies, please dont be scared to ask for help, it really will be the best thing you ever do!

Thank you for taking time to pen that post Beans. A lot of posters will get comfort from your words, which mean far more than I or any of the other IPs who post on this site can convey.

To anyone scared of approaching an IP, do remember that we are no different to you all - we have families and chidren of our own, have the occasional spat with our partners, cringe every time we fill the car up with petrol, hate washing up (my husband!), hate washing the car (me!) and love going to the garden centre on Sundays etc etc.

Please do not be intimidated by our questions - we are really trying to help but do need some basic facts.
