I have an IVA which has now been completed by my IVA Company, my question is, i have tried to get my money from my bank account today and my card was refused. I rang Lloydstsb up and was told because of the IVA all our accounts with them have been passed onto the debt consumers msomething (cant remember the whole sentence).
I have money in 2 of the accounts which i cannot access, my worry is, when my husbands wages go in on monday evening will i be able to access the money? or will they consficate it?
Please advise as i am now worried we will have no money at all!
Thank you

Hey Glynis, welcome to the forum. An expert will answer your question shortly. I think that your IP should have advised you to close this account and open another with a bank that isn't a creditor so your wages can be paid in there. Can you ask work if they can recall it back? Viki X

You ought to have been advised to open up another account before the IVA was proposed to your bank, as it is widely known within this profession that banks will freeze accounts as soon as the IVA is accepted.

Which IP firm are you using?

Hi Glynis

I agree ... one of the first things I had to do when I was even considering starting an IVA was to open a new bank account with someone who wasn't one of my creditors.

Is there any way that you can stop your husbands wages being paid into that account tomorrow? Doing this and looking to open a new bank account should be your absolute immediate priority. I would also contact your IP company and ask them what you should do because opening a new bank account it pretty basic advice that all IPs should inform you of at an early stage. What company are you with?

All the best

Debbie

Hi
You have been poorly advised by your IVA provider, changing your accounts should have been a priority pre IVA.Has your IVA actually been approved,i;e had your creditors meeting ?
If so Lloyds should return any money that goes into your account on Monday but it can be a bit of a long drawn out battle.
Speak to them on Monday,I would call into a branch, as the call centres can be hard work, and speak to someone who can contact the right dept.
Also open a new bank account,I suggest the Co-op cashminder account if you do not have any debts with the Co-op
