We got a puppy yesterday.Am I mad.I have 5 cats. The children have been nagging and begging us for ages.We gave in and I just hope I've done the right thing.I worried about going away etc, but the reality is two weeks abroad is no longer an option for us so the dog could go in this country with us.And, we need to get out and about doing lots of free walks and excercise.I do find I panic after making decisions since the start of my IVA.
She's very pretty.A 10 wk old golden lab.I have spend lots of hard saved cash on beds and toys.I reckon the day to day cost of feeding shouldn't be too much? Will you all tell me different? I need to do the second lot of injections on Monday and need to get her insured.Does anyone know a good pet plan insurance?

I found Morethan quite good, I think it's like all insurance though, it's best to shop around.
I bet he's gorgeous, I love the way puppies smell.

Yes I will attempt photo's soon.I didn't realise puppies had a particular smell, but she does.I suppose it's the same as a baby smell.Nothing innocent comes from her botom though !

i have a little staffy pup, she is so gorgeous and loving, i have insurance for her with direct line, its £9.05 a month which was the cheapest one for the best cover i thought, but i think it depends on you breed aswell, might be worth checking it out though, my dad has a chitzu and his was the cheapest with direct line too, plus they give you £20 back when you send them the receipt for the injections so thats a saving too [:D][^]

I have my dog insured with More Than. They have always been great, even when I had to claim on a £2000 operation when he was 9 months old.

We are with Esure. Costs me £8 per month for our 2 year old Heinz 57. I've been with several over the years (and various pets) and it does pay to shop around.

I love the smell of puppies too. I always think their breath smells of biscuits!

Aah, I can't wait for the pictures!

I've got Harry insured with Churchill - they were a lot cheaper than some of the other companies for cats, so they might be worth a look for dogs.

I've just done Tesco pet plan-£10 monthly and excess of £60 so that should be ok.I'm definately a worrier though...she just did lots of shaking and flickering in her sleep.I was convinced she had just had a fit.I was checking her eyes etc.My husband was looking on in disbelief.Apparently, they do this quite often in thier sleep. He reckons she was dreaming of eating my adorable persian girl[:I]

Yes, lots of twitching is quite normal for dogs when they are asleep.
My elderly lurcher looks as though she is running a marathon the way her legs go, and she does an awful lot of whimpering as well.

The younger one only twitches slightly.

He's chasing rabbits Cat, dreaming and no doubt working his muscles as well. Puppies breath reminds me of infant formula, sweet & sickly but very adorable. Kittens don't seem to have the same smell which is a shame 'cos I've got 5 of them playing havoc in the house at the moment [:0][:(!]...... but they are soooooo funny [:D][:D]
