Hi,

I've received a letter fro seasons holidays, apparently I've won a membership. This means I can enjoy " a luxurious 7 night holiday for up to 4 people". I have to send the annual maintenance fee of £ 275.25 up front. I'll also receive 2 free tickets to go to Cheltenham Festival next year.

Does this sound like a scam to anyone??? I'd love to go to Cheltenham, haven't been able to go since Hubby's IVA lol[;)]

I would be sceptical but you never know. They do have a website and they are endorsed by C4's horse racing expert Derek Thompson.
You never know it could be genuine but I suppose you would need to give the small print/contract a very close read to see exactly how much and for how long you need to pay and what you get in return. It does mention the annual maintenance charge is 2008 £367.00 though.

Sounds like a scam to me, similar to the timeshare ones you get abroad.

I just had a quick look at their website and the annual maintenance fee was £368 for 2008!

The other thing to remember is if you haven't entered a competition for free membership then it is a scam - sorry!

I agree - if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. If you went along with it, you would probably have to sit through real high pressure sales talk.

Did that once in Tenerife a good few years ago. We were there for hours and my hubbie would have signed if I hadn't refused as there was no way we could have afforded it. Got free car hire for the weekend out of it though!

Wish i'd have said no to a timeshare deal 5 years ago!! Sounded really good at the time, plus when you've been sat listening to someone talk to you about how good it is for over 4 hours, you'll do anything just to get away!!!! I'm now in the process of trying to sell timeshare, and if I ever do, I knowe we'll get nowhere near the amount we paid for it. What a con they are!!! The companies that sell them need looking into, and soon.

I received in this mornings mail, along with all the other stuff aletter saying I had won £9,000 and they have been trying to reach me "wow" the snag is I have to send them £19.95 processing and delivery fee. The origination is Canada. I have a feeling I have heard of this scam before somewhere. I am amazed at how they get there info but not amazed at how much they will make with the postage fees.

Yes, this is a scam. Even though you will say no to it, there are loads of people out there who will send them money! When will they learn that there is no such thing as a free lunch?

Did you actually enter into any sort of competition through Seasons Holidays? Sorry to put a damper on this but I get loads of these types of letters through and phone calls telling me I've won this or that and I think "but I haven't applied for anything or entered any competitions".

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I think its a scam!

Who would want to go away on holiday, when they have the beautiful Gower coast and Mumbles bay on their doorstep?

Seasons are a form of timeshare company - my friends are owners and have had some great trips, but they will probably want you to attend a sales presentation of some sort - which is boring but could be worth it.

I enter so many competitons in hope lol.

My in laws have a timeshare so I'm not going to run the risk. Like Melanie says I have the mumbles and Gower on my doorstep and I good old Porthcawl.

My in-laws went to Tenerife last year for a week with a timeshare company who sent them a letter out of the blue. They had an all expenses paid trip (apart from spends on the condition that they spent one day with the reps. They sat through a 8 hour intensive sales pitch. They knew they couldn't afford it and at the end of the day they said thanks for the hols but NO THANKS!

I agree with Melanie - I have family in Cardiff and the Pembrokshire Coast and beaches are the best in the country. I have had many happy holidays there!

Ooh - the Pembrokeshire coast makes me really nostalgic. I was brought up in Pembrokeshire and lived there until I was 20. It is the most fantastic place in the country and I intend to go back home to retire.

I've never been to Pembrokeshire. If I was thinking of going, where are the best places to go?
