I am a little over 12 months into my IVA and am wanting to change banks, basically because my current bank has a slow on-line system that does not keep up to date with my real account situation.

I approached another bank to open a 'basic' bank account and had them check if it was open to people with IVA's and they confirmed that it was.

However, my application was declined, and yes they did conduct a credit search.

I got a copy of my credit file from Experian and it would appear that two of my creditors are reporting the status of the agreement as an 8 each month which according to the report means I am in breach of the agreement. Other creditors report it as either 0 or U both of these show as a green and the 8's show as red.

Everything else on my credit file looks in order and all payments to IVA and Mortgage etc. are all green so I can see no other reason for the bank to decline my application

Are my creditors incorrectly reporting the status of these debits?

Hi,
Having just been looking at my own credit reports. I think that you will find that the 8 means a default on the orginal account and not on the IVA. If I remember correctly there is a section on the page which tells you what it all means. Not sure if these do online banking but CO OP,Abbey nd Nationwide all do basic accounts.

Hi Luke

Welcome to the forum, we opended a Smile acct through the co-op, we also have an easycash acct with the Halifax, this is online banking. you get an electron card, DD etc but no other facilities such as cheque book or overdraft, there is also no interest
