a thread that was running on 'rats' has made me think....does anyone out there have any unusual phobias? as some of u know my OH petrified of moths!! and my sister was scared of the toilet monster when she was younger, she used to flush the chain and run for the door, many a time my other sister and me pulled the door shut before she could get out and hold onto it, while we listened to her hysterical screams...many a thick ear from our mam for that one! How cruel! I have the usual phobias like spiders, wasps, daddy long legs etc. One of my strange 'things' are eating prawns with shells on. I cannot bear to touch them for some reason (totally irrational). I either avoid unshelled prawns totally or get someone to shell them for me.

Birds! The amount of pigeons in our town is unreal and I often have to walk a fair way further than necessary to get to my destination as I dare not walk towards them! I look like I've got tourettes syndrome as I'm twitching and ducking and diving, it's not nice at all. People laugh at me (work colleagues) but it can affect my life seriously, I'm ok if I can see them out of the window but to go outside can bother me a lot!

It's anything creepy with me. I'll tolerate spiders outside the house, but not inside.
A few years ago, hubbie and me went to bed, he settled down straightaway and I read for a while. I saw something out of the corner of my eye and the biggest spider I have ever seen outside of zoo was crawling over the headboard! Hubbie wasn't allowed to be asleep for long. Imagine if I had settled down and it had crawled across my face.....................

rollercoaster, I sometimes don't get out of the car when we go places if there appears to be a lot of birds flying! If any came near me I hate to think what I would do! I spend time watching people walking towards pigeons (sad I know) and think one day I'm going to do that, dare not but maybe one day you never know!

ohh lesley, i know that many phobias can be sooo debilitating, my sons autistic and actually loves running towards pigeons in shopping malls to see them 'scatter'. i do tell him off, but i think im more worried about them 'unloading' on me. i hope u dont live too close coz if u see a redhead boy running at a pack of pigeons i will deny all knowledge of his parentage. lol.

lol rollercoaster, lots of children do that in our town centre too, I walk with my 14 yr old linking arms and steer her towards them (she's not bothered about them) and do my tourette impression, she is always saying 'Mum, just walk they're not going to hurt you or touch you', I'm not convinced though! I walk with the Dog and luckily he doesn't bother about ducks or anything so I make him go first along the river bank and then I know they'll go down the bank of their own accord!

It's wasps for me, i'm absolutely terrified of them. One came in the car years ago when I was driving home from work and I stopped the car right where I was, in the middle of the road and ran out to the kerb! I wouldn't get back in until the guy in the car behind shooed it out. When my nephew was a little kid I left him hanging on the monkey bars because one flew near me! He surprisingly hung on for ages. They are evil and I can't think of a single reason why they are on this earth. Viki X

With me it's spiders, daddy longlegs and, don't laugh, fish! Especially dead fish. I will eat fish, but only filleted or in finger form! Dave and I went for a meal once and he had sea bass, and much to my horror it came with the head on - I made him set up a barrier with the wind list and salt and pepper pots so I couldn't see it!
I'm also scared of frogs, toads, birds, wasps, snakes, worms - you name it, if it lives in the garden theres a good chance I won't like it!
