hi

it depends who you bank with. If your bank is one of your creditors you may want to look at a new account. we have opened a halifax easycash ans a smile acount through co-op. also you can still pay direc debit

Hiya and welcome.
You may lose your bank acc but there are basic acc's available. Co-op has their cashminder, d/d's and electron card with it. Hope this helps

Hi Clare

You will only need to change your bank accountif you go for an iva if they are one of your creditors.

Also please stay away from hsbc/first direct as they close accounts of people in ivas as a matter of routine, so if this is your bank you need to change.

A bank getting a goodd press on the forum letely is the co op, I am with them and opened my new account with them before my iva and have a standard bank account with visa debit card and full facilities.

Good luck
Emma x

Emma's right - I was with First Direct for nearly 15 years but that didn't matter.

Co-Op Cashminder account is great.

I know I'll have the last laugh over FD when I have paid off my IVA. I have my mortgage with them too - as soon as I can, I intend to be a totally EX customer with them.

Any problems it can be done in any branch also, the co op are great. I wish I had changed from hsbc years ago as the service is SO much better[:)]

That is really good to know. Regardless of what happens I am sick of my current bank anyway they are always getting things 'confused'.

I really do wish I had changed years ago, but I didn't realise how bad hsbc were as had been with them since my first job (many moons ago[:I])

Since I changed to the co op I have been really impressed by the level of service they give on the phone, in branch and the online banking is really easy. They also send statements every fortnight which is handy to keep tabs on everything.
If you don't have a local branch you can always pay in at the post office x
