I finished my IVA a while ago and the 6 years are up. I had my credit file checked with all 3 companies and there is no record of my IVA or any defaults. However I tried an application for a credit card, and a loan specifically for poor credit (via broker), and I was declined for everything. My credit rating was quite high on Experian (966) when I recently checked.

My partner wants to apply for a mortgage (we are 1st time buyers), and I want to be included, however with recent rejections it seems implausible that I would be offered one. We have an expected 10% ish deposit, maybe a bit lower. Can anyone offer me any advice? I think based on her salary alone we could get the required mortgage, but I want to have equal ownership.

Is this possible? Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi, you could always chat with Ryan one of our experts who post on the forum. I know he's helped several not only with sourcing a mortgage but with his expert advice too. He can be found via the Ask an expert link

Hi IVA_kid. I would definitely recommend Ryan. Although I eventually managed to resolve my own mortgage issue, I had emailed him in total despair, and was amazed just how quickly he responded - within minutes. I emailed the outcome, and he replied again saying I could contact him again if I ever needed help in future. I felt totally confident that he would have done everything possible to advise support me. Good luck going forward. x

What positives are on the credit files? Have you had any small amounts of credit?

Ignore the scores, they are gimmicky and mean little. What lenders want to see is good clear payment history. You may have to build up slowly.
