Hi there everyone,
We have just heard that we have to move AGAIN to a different forces camp (despite only moved to this one 5 months ago!!) We get whats called a disturbance fund allocated for travel expenses, paying off outstanding utility bills, new school uniforms, cleaning of the old house etc etc etc it is about £1200 will I need to give this to the Ip. I dont think I would because its for all the things I have mentioned but thought I would check. Thanks again for all you help!

I would have thought that your IP will agree that it is reasonable for you to use this money to pay for the costs you have mentioned.

Hi
I would agree with the above. It is to be used to pay for the items and services that you mentioned.Let your IP know that you will be getting the allowance but that you will be using it for the purpose that it is allocated for.

Hi Jasperyogi

We to are in the forces and have recently moved. I checked with my IVA company if this would be ok as the money covers the items you have mentioned. they were quite happy as it was justified.

Hope this helps and nice to know someone else in the services!!

Aah - I remember those days of moving married quarters so well! Do you still get formally "marched out", or is it a little more civilised now?

There is no way that this allowance is to be treated as additional income. In my experience it was never enough to cover the costs of moving.

We've had 11 moves in 12 years!!!

So we have experienced the strict move out days and the slack not up to scratch days that seem to be here now.

On the other hand we are living in a 4 bedroom detcahed house which we could not afford if we were in civvie street.

Can't complain - even if the kitchen has orange cuboards and green tiles!!!

Brings a smile to my face as my present place is ex Ministry of Defence and it is very roomy and very quiet!

Most have been sold but still have some and often see RAF and Army Officers walking around!

Everyone is very pleaseant and I tell you one thing there is hardly any crime!
