As an IP who has been reading this site for about a month I have to say that I am shocked at the amount of uncertainty in which our profession appears to leave its clients, as is demonstrated by the amount of posts on this board. It really shouldn't happen.
I hope to be able to help by speaking openly without the glare of publicity by disclosing my professional identity. That way I can say it as I see it without any suggestion of self publicity or concern that creditors don't like what I have to say. After all,I have my own clients who are in IVA's!
My first thought for the board is that the vast majority of IP's are decent, ethical people who will do their utmost to ensure that the right result is acheived. The job's not a pushover and sometimes difficult balances and compromises have to be made but as a potential client you should feel completely at ease with the IP who is advising you.If, at the start of the IVA process, you don't feel comfortable or find that you don't understand the advice that you are receiving then you should find another IP BEFORE you sign anything. After all, there are enough of us about and this board can give you some idea as to where to go.
Of course, you might just find that another IP tells you the same thing in which case, perhaps you need to ask yourself some leading questions. This is something that I'm going to have a lot more to say about, but that's for another day!
