If you sare looking for a Local Authority Home or Housing Association Place the homes scheme might be a way forward.

You will usually need a local connection to be nominated for another borough.

You have a local connection if you:

Have a close member of the family living in the borough
Have a permanent job in the borough

There is no point opting for a borough that has a shortage of housing, as your nomination is likely to be refused. A borough will only accept a nomination if there is a realistic chance of making you an offer.

Turning down an offer from another borough will not affect your application for housing with us.

If you have a good reason for moving to another area, within London or outside –
because, for example, you need to live nearer to your work – we may be able to
help you through the HOMES scheme.
HOMES is a nationwide housing mobility organisation which works with councils
and housing associations to help people move from one area to another. Most
councils and housing associations in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern
Ireland are in the scheme. It can be used for short- and long-distance moves.
