My wife and I have decided to separate. We have been in an IVA since August 2005. How will separation affect the IVA? - She is currently the sole earner as I am at university. I will only have my student loan as income.

Hello fatboy and welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear of your recent separation, my advice would be to contact your I.P as soon as possible. They will be able to best advise you as they no the full terms and conditions of your IVA.

Best Regards. IVA Experts

Hi - and I am also sorry to hear of your situation.

So long as you and your wife can afford to continue to pay the joint contribution, there is no reason why the IVA's cannot continue - you just each pay your share of the monthly figure. I suspect that your wife may not wish to continue in this mannger, though, if she is required to pay more than you, so the IVA's can also be separated.

Take specific advice from your IP in this regard.
