I currently have an IVA in place - which is running smoothly. I have however been told that the company I work for is changing their expense claim system and in order to fund work expenses from now on all relevant employees are expected to apply for a personal AMEX charge card through a corporate account. They have stated that checks will be made on indivuals via Equifax and in their experience all applicants should pass. Can you please let me know whether (i) under the terms of my IVA I can apply for a charge card at all and (ii) whether I would pass the check required if I do apply, despite what their salesman has said.

Hi graham and welcome to the forum

I think that you need to discuss your circumstances with your employer and come clean about your situation to avoid embarrassment. The credit check will identify the fact that your are in an IVA, but if your company are going to be the ones responsible for paying the account then you do not need to disclose this to your IP.

I feel that it is unlikely that you will pass a credit check with an ongoing IVA on your record, so do beware the sales talk.
