Had a call from a business who would not give their names and came out with a load of half truths. Waited for the call to end pressed 5 and spoke to one of their agents and proceeded to tell them that they were mis selling IVA's. She really did not understand when I mentioned the fact that creditors are looking to maximise their return and that this should have been clearly stated in their advert.

The best bit was that this was a new Governmental legislation for dealing with debts of over 5,000. I thought IVA's were introduced in 1986! Hardly new is it!

Hi Ray,

Thanks for this. There was a lot of this going on a few months ago but I thought it had stopped. Do you think they were based in the UK?

Kind regards,
Terry Balfour

Hi Terry

Had a busy day and just got on.

It was hard to tell as it was one of these telephone adverts and then you put a number in and you were put into a call centre. They wouldn't tell me who they were!

Doesn't look like it has stopped!

I have had two calls from a company whose name I did not quite hear think it was something credit plan. The caller started off by asking if I was having a good day, I said very suspiciously "yes" and then he went on to talk about new government regulation bla bla bla, I said no thanks and put the phone down. The day after I got another call from them, this time I said please take me off your database as I do not want baraging with calls.
I think this really cheapens the insolvency practice, I understand that IP'S such as Melanie who post on here have undergone years of study and exams,it's such a shame when companies try and give the hard sell over the phone.

Rest assured Marsha, the majority of IPs don't associate ourselves with "ambulance chasers".
