Hi caraf
This is exactly why IPs should meet their clients to ensure that they understand everything. What discussions have you held with your IP to date, as you should have had at least a detailed telephone meeting with either the IP themselves or a very senior member of their staff authorised to give advice.
I suggest that you call your IP on Monday, and get them to take you through the proposal paragraph by paragraph, and do not sign and return it until you are satisfied that you know what you are letting yourself in for.

Hi Caraf
Over the weekend sit and think of all the questions that come into your head and anything on the proposal that you dont understand> I had four side of A4 paper with different questions and they went through every one until I undestood.
Write themn as you think of them its easy to forget them..

Please don't be afraid to ask your IP as many questions as you feel necessary - you are in the process of making a life changing decision and 5 years is a long time!
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Hi caraf
It is scary recieving your proposal as it is a formal doccument with some terminology you will not understand (as I didn't)
Sit down when you can concentrate fully and read through making notes of anything you don't understand or agree with and phone your IP on onday and clarify everything with them.
When you feel happy with everything sign and return to yor IP.
I know you are probably in a very desperate worrying frame of mind at this time but please take care to make sure you are 100% hapy with everything before you proceed as it is a comitment and you need to get it right from the start.
If you get any niggling questions either ask you IP or post on this forum for advice, it has been a tremendous support to me over the last months.
Good luck [:)]

Hi Caraf
The proposal does look very scary but read everything and ask as many questions as necessary of your IP even write them down and email them maybe> this is really important although a lot of the information in the proposal maybe standard there maybe some little bits which are really important to YOU so ask ask ask this way you will get the best option for yourself and hopefully a successful IVA - because I am from an admin background my proposal was straight forward to me but I did have to ask quite a few questions and suggest a change or two and my other hald would have been lost if he had to do this by himself.
If you have someone who works in an office or is used to dealing with paperwork of a very important nature that you feel comfortabe talking to maybe they could help you read it over?
take care and good luck
VERY BEST WISHES

There is no need for a witness to your signatures on the IVA proposal.

Mine didn't - I found mine out when they were submitting it to court.

That is correct - the IP will send you details of the meeting at the same time that creditors are circulated.
