Hi. I have not yet managed to speak to the lady who apparently has been assigned as my debt advisor from Thomas Charles and am waiting for her call back. I am not good wth patience so am left wondering and have more questions... How long does it take to put a DMP in place? also,I have read alot on this forum and alot of people have been in months and months of arrears with payments in different circumstances so I am wondering..at what stage do bailiffs get involved, is it always court first? has anyone had to deal with bailiffs? Thanks.

Hi
It,s always court first,so as long as you respond to any court letters you should not be troubled by bailiffs.

if it helps mel i didn't pay my creditors for 6 months although they threatened court action and the sending the big boys round nothing ever materialised, it takes a couple of months for it to go to court anyway and you should be sorted one way or another by then.
good luck

Ok thanks. One more thing, from the time that a DMP is discussed and agreed how long does it take to put it in place?

i went with myvesta for my dmp and it was all discussed on the phone and everything sent back paperwork asap, as soon as the amount was agreed that i could pay each month it was down to when i made the first standing order and they received it,to send out to the creditors it took less than 2 weeks and in that time myvesta were dealing with any creditors i referred over to them. hope that helps it doesn't take long to set up and myvesta are a free phone call and free service they donot take any commission out of what you pay.

myvesta.org.uk is where you will find help, they are really nice there and helped me a great deal, other companies offering DMP's take a percentage out for their fees, you will have to contact these your self you can do it online or by their free phone number which is answered quickly, freelili advised me of this company and i must admit i can't fault them, when i went BR i telephoned them and informed them, they knew beforehand i was going BR and they said don't forget we are still here for you if you need any info during your BR which was nice also, freephone is 0800 1116 885. i don't mean to step on TC toes but if this is the route you want to take, i would certainly use them again, if i were to set up a DMP (hopefully never) i do recommend them.
good luck even if its a 2nd opinion as they do do iva's but i know they are through grant thornton, but for the DMP i can say i had no trouble whatsoever and they were great in dealing with the creditors.
