Hi
Contact your IP as soon as possible,it may be that this can be included within your IVA,with your creditors approval. That,s a hell of an electric bill !!
Do you both have an IVA or is it just you ?

I would call the electic supplier and try to find out roughly what figure was owing when you left the pub in 2005. Surely legally he should have notified them of change of customer when you left?
If you were both running the pub together presumably you were trading as a partnership ? If so, as far as im aware he is just as liable for the bill as you ,as both partners are equally responsible for the business debts. ..but im sure other forum members might confirm this point?

That's the whole problem of trading in partnership - each partner is responsible for all of the partnership debts, and it does rather look as if you have been lumbered with this. What has your husband been doing about dealing with the bills since you left? And why wasn't your name removed from these liabilities at that time> I have a horrible feeling that there will be more lurking in there, and your ex really needs to be honest with you about this.

I have just spoken to the electric company andthey said that my name is not on the account!
He owes 8000 on that. I have included the remainder of the business debts in my iva so hopefully that is it now!
Thanks for the advice.
My ex husband has a DMP but has not paid anything toward it since it started so I dont know what will happen to his debts!
