Hello,

Hope everyone is well..just thought I would let you al know we had a meeting with our OR today in Liverpool...well not sure she was the OR because she didn't seem to know much about what would happen to our house and about the BI, to be honest I seemed to know more than she did, and that's no disrespect to her because she was really really nice! But just thought we would know more about what would happen after today but we are no the wiser to be honest...said it all takes a while now, it takes her 6 weeks to draw up the reports that go to the creditors and to the 'agency' that deal with your IPA...but she did say we would be paying about £500.00 per month back as our surplus income was £700+ far cry from the £1,000+ we would have been paying into the IVA but we still would have prefered this!!!

Ok regarding the car...as you probably remember we sold our car (worth £5,700)and bought one for £3,200...we kept the surplus of £2,500 to hand over to the OR.

Well we took this money today and she didn't know what to do with it...looked at us as if we were daft!!! She said she'd never been offered money before!!! So went off to ask her boss what she should do, she came back with a cashier who took the money and gave us a receipt. But and here is the bad news we can't keep the new car...because they only allow £2,500 even though hubby explained he needed a reliable car for work and travelling between sites. So unless we can find the difference it needs to be sold...really disappointed, so still none the wiser to be honest need to wait to hear what they set the BI at and what they value the car at!

Sorry for the essay!!!

Hi Michelle

Well done for today, sorry you didnt get answers to all your questions, but you will as time goes on once the OR is involved. The BI is usually dealt with by a specialist group in house or by an appointed IP so this is why they probably couldnt give you the reassurance you wanted today, and sorry about the car. Good luck

Michelle the people you see in Liverpool are the examiners you very rarely see the or unless you are big fry's in BR, i found them very nice, wasn't too impressed with my examiner as he took my car away from me altogether and didn't allow me one at all, but everything else was fine, they didn't set an ipa for me as i only had surplus of £56 and said trustee would do this, i am nearly 6 months in, has gone very quick and so far so good, congratulations for getting through today i found this bit the hardest but nothing like i imagined.

This is ridiculous about your car for a mere £700 - after how honest you have been with regard to the handing over of money. Speak to someone higher up the food chain within that office, or demand to speak to the OR personally. It will cost them more than that to collect it and auction it. You could also argue that the value is lower due to its condition.

Hi
Another factor is that your £3200 car will be valued at trade price and not the retail that you purchased it for,so you may be ok.

Thanks guys...I always feel better when I come on here!!!

Hubby spoke to Miss Kelly today again the examiner because when we went on Parkers last night the price was coming up at £4,000 but this is with average mileage and ours has done double the average!!! He rang and explained all this also there is a few things that need doing to the car as well...

...she said she did check on Parkers but she would also get an independent valuation...so we will wait and see what she comes back with, if were not happy then I think we will take your advice Melaine and ask to speak to someone higher up!

At the end of the day we sold our other car to try to release a bit of cash for them and I thought they would be happy with not having to mess about selling the car!

Be persistent and fight your corner. What you have done is absolutely reasonable in my humble opinion, and as all of the money is likely to be gobbled up in admin fees, there seems little sense in the OR holding out for more money. You might politely suggest this point - but don't be too cheeky!!!

Thanks Melanie...hubby said he will wait and see what Miss Kelly comes back with and if he isn't happy will say so...just doesn't want to p her off at the minute!!!

I think personally she was going off what the 'book' says because when she went through our I and E form she wasn't even looking at the figures I had put she just went off what her sheet said...wouldn't allow electricity just gas she said that both should be covered under the one and gave us £57.00 for both would love to know which supplier they use!!!

She didn't allow for telephones either...I think when she sends this out to be signed there will be quite a few queries!!!

Michelle I think you need to speak to someone higher up. Not allowing gas is totally unreasonable (we live in a one bed flat with no gas and our electricity is £50 per month), and as for £20 for all insurances - I don't know what to say! If they can tell me where to get insurance that cheap I'd love to know! My car insurance is £30 on it's own.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

Something must be wrong here, you must speak to someone much higher up. After the honesty and good will you have shown re the car,to take it away is reason enough for querie, the insurance is insanity. Ask how long this person has been qualified for. These people have a lot of power and this is a once in a life time experience, you deserve to be treated fairly.

Nothing to do with your case or financial matters but I was on the recieving end of a social worker a couple of years ago, she had been qualified 2 weeks, the mistakes she made would have had disatrous and far reaching effects on my family, if I hadnt challenged them.

My elec bill is 135 pounds per month and I have gas central heating. I have nine years no claims and my insurance on the car is 28 pounds a month. That was the cheapest I could find with full breakdown cover.

You must challenge this

I think our OR went to the same training school!!

He says our shopping is too high (£545 for 2 adults & 3 teenagers), the car insurance is too high, BT is too high!

Jane

Is your shopping over a month? Because we have the same bill and I wouldn't say we were excessive!

Have you included uniforms etc into your shopping Jane? Just wondering as i've put a separate section for school onto my I&E. My little one has started for the first time and i've no idea it's all going to cost with swimming and lunches and uniform. They might look on it differently if it's not all lumped in together, just a thought.
