Are the Alliance and Leicester linked with anyone, does anyone know?

They seem to be advertising a lot lately but I can't see them mentioned anywhere, either good or bad, as a possible bank to open an account with.

As far as I know Alliance & Leicester bank accounts are not linked to any other institutions, however an Alliance & Leicester credit card is linked to MBNA.

Alliance and Leicester closed my current account with them when they found out about my IVA - BUT they were one of my creditors so that may have been the reason. Up till then I had found them to be a good bank so would recommend them if you do not owe them money.
