I have been in a IVA now for 7 months. if i move in with my partner will i have to increase my payments

You will need to complete an I+E which reflects the proportional payments once you are living together.

If you have dispossible income once you are sharing the bills then yes you will be expected to pay it into your IVA.

Your IP will need details of your partner's income and the shared household bills, in order to allocate these in proportion to your respective earnings. This may then result in an increase in payments for you.

Is that fair to expect your partner to have to give their details when it has nothing to do with them, especially if the IVA was established before they moved in. Just wondering???

It,s a good question and would imagine that all info regarding a third party would be given on a voluntary basis.

Of course it is fair for the IP to know what the earning ratios are in order to ascertain what share of the household expenditure each party should be bearing. If clients refuse to provide the information, in my experience there is usually something they do not wish their IP to know about!

This needs to be done as the IP needs to ensure that your Partner is paying their fair share of the bills etc...

I think this is fair because you will likely be committing to a joint income and expenditure budget and its important to ensure your partner wont be paying more than his fair share.

But what if the 2nd person in the rented property is a friend and you do not want then knowing about your proposed IVA ?

If you share with a friend as flatmates, it is acceptable to share the bills on a 50/50 basis. Seems odd doesn't it, and I am frequently asked what is the difference between flatmates and partners, but in the eyes of the creditors there is a difference and we have to report the facts as they are.
