Hiya there
Please try not to dwell on the negatives. We all make mistakes and youre no different. There are lots of reasons why people get into debt, it being way too easy is the most obvious. Whats done is done, its in the past now. Youre a good person, not a criminal. Most of us are really fragile at the begining of our debt free journeys, its so easy to blame, shame and name yourself as stupid, worthless and useless. YOURE NOT and that is exactly why youre here.
Debt street is a crappy wappy place to be, youre not going to feel great right now. I promise that you will feel better along the way.
Good luck and take care now.

Oh please don't be down on yourself, we're all here in the same or a similar situation and can offer support and advice if you need it, be reassured you're doing the right thing by recognising your debt situation and doing something to resolve it.
I agree the initial uptake is a stressful time but a few weeks down the line you'll look back and be well on your way to working towards debt freedom

I agree as well - you are not a criminal and must not think like that. An IVA isn't bankruptcy and the court is a county one, nothing like a criminal court.
You are now doing something to sort yourself out, and once an IVA is approved, the relief is tremendous.
We are here for all the support and advice you need.

Hi I understand exactly how you feel, I am in the same position at the moment. I have had to tell my hubby everything I owe which was the hardest thing to do ever. I feel as though life is not worth living and I must admit I have had suicidal feelings in the last few weeks. Am feeling a bit more positive now but I still feel like a criminal and I feel like everone knows!!!

You are definitely not a criminal!
We all know how you feel, we've been there and I remember what it was like when I had to confess all to hubby - not nice.
If you are feeling so depressed, have you thought about going to the doctors about it? Not good to have suicidal feelings at all.
I hope that we on here can go some way towards helping you to feel better.

the last 3 years i ahve been able to use ATMS without feeling fear, i have been rid of that gut wrenching fear of the letters from the bank about being over the over draft limit as well, and have had the good feeling that the money I am spending is mine and not the banks.

An IVA is a good tool for those who want it to remedy their situation, I can confirm it also brings me the security I need.
