I thought we could post details of the cheapest holidays we've ever had so others wondering what they could do next year would have some suggestions.

Here's mine.

I went camping with a load of mates. We stayed in a farmers field (he forgot to remove the baby cows before we got there - was a very interesting first night[:D]). There were no restaurants and the nearest toilet was at a pub a mile away. We spent the time going for long walks, cooked all of our food on camping burners and washed using the tap that was used for filling up the cows water trough (was very cold [:D][:D]).

Entire holiday, including train ticket and food - £20.00 for both me and my boyfriend.

Mine was this year on one of the sun holidays .
I wrote about it in my blog total cost for 4 nights in a lovely three bed caravan, nightly entertainment, was £60. We are only a couple now but this would have been for four and great for kids.

Hitched a lift to Fort William
Walked home to Kirkcaldy 140 miles
About 10 days, Youth Hostels, camping, swimming in rivers and lochs, spending a couple of days in the Trossachs. Visiting castles etc .

Last summer probably, my parents paid for a static caravan for my partner and I. Apart from an odd beverage in the club and lunch on one day, it barely cost us a penny!

Camping....can't be beaten, breeze around the Trossachs or not!!.... Last two years we've packed up the tent and headed to one of the zillion campsites that spring up every year... this years was a tenner a night, all facilities and we were mostly lucky with the weather....Kids were happy, wine was cheep and cheerful and we had a great 10 days swimming in the sea, building sandcastles and playing board games by gaslight all eve....perfect!!

We took up camping last year - invested in a tent and all the equipment knowing that we had to face our debts - best thing we did - at least this year when i sit in a field somewhere with my wine box of cheap old "country manor" I know it is all bought and paid for and there will be no nasty letters on my door mat when I return home!

We're lucky as Dave's mum has got a holiday cottage at Pagham on the South Coast so we can go there as often as we want in the winter and occasionally in the summer. That seems the wrong way round to me but hey ho, it's her place!

The cottage is an old railway carriage converted into a bungalow and to be honest it's seen better days, but it's really peaceful, if a little basic. There's no central heating, the louvre windows don't shut properly and the toilet was outside until Dave's dad built a covered corridor so it's not too bad if you need the loo in the night!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.

I love it there, although a few of my creature comforts would be nice! We had a nice stroll around Chichester while we were away - it's such a beautiful city and I don't get bored wandering round when I haven't got any money!

looking after a friends house a couple of years ago.She lives close by the sea.Has a huge house, huge grounds, sauna, large tv room and lots of channels, a games room full of computer stuff and pool table (oh and I got use of her gym card and pool membership at luxery hotel)We just looked after numerous animals, do the usual buying in and relax for a week.Keep begging her to make hols coincide again.We were there over the new year.Visit lots when she's there.Bliss.Cat 1

It would have to be our honeymoon in October which our guests paid for and we managed to go to the Dominican Republic and our spending money came from the fact the Magician couldn't turn up on the day!

But apart from that we go camping with friends, nigh on cheap as chips until we get to the alcohol that is but it is always a good laugh!

If we go away in first week of October then there will be a bungalow available in Poole, Dorset (if anyone fancies house sitting!)
