Dear All

I'm asking this question for a friend....

My friend, female, has lived with the same male flatmate for years', purely as a friend, but at several addresses.

Her flatmate has now considered applying for an IVA, but has been told by the IVA company that any creditor will view them as a couple. After doing basic credit checks it clearly shows they have lived at 2 addresses previously together, even though they are not a couple (each address previously has been 2 bedroomed and apart from sharing rent and fuel bills 50/50 etc, they have lived only as friends).

She's now worried that they will ask her for bank details etc.

Can they do this?[:0]

She hasn't got anything to hide, but surely they can't delve into her finanaces because her flat mate needs to consider an IVA or possible Bankruptcy?

Any ideas on what could happen[?]

Thanks

Hi
Your friends flatmate needs to make sure that his IP is aware of the relationship as your friend should have nothing to do with the IVA,and why should they.
As long as the flatemate can show that he is paying 50% of the bills all should be ok

As these two are definately not living together as a couple, there is absolutely no need for your friends details to be made available to her flatmate's IP. The IP will need to know, however, the basis in which they share the bills.

Is the flat tenancy in joint names?
