HI there
Well got an update from the COOP on my bank switching over to a new one and how BR will affect my relationship - basically they referred me to an IP firm and said we cannot discuss it with you - aha! I thought so am going to open my new A&L one which doesn't have an overdraft anyway and hope that they take pity on me and leave it open. Also COOP couldn't answer what would happen to my joint account with my husband - explained I was the only one filing for BR and they couldn't tell me what would happen to the account and if my husband would be allowed to keep it (well his half of it) so not much joy. Also had a chat with my IP today about NR. She stated the following:

"We are still taking cases on where the majority debt is N.R in the hope they will start to succumb to this pressure.
But in the meantime our IP’s will always have to make clients aware of the current statistics involving N.R.
We’re hoping for an update from the board regarding N.R if they’re acceptance improves your case would definitely be considered."

Which I kind of understand but as I said to her its hard for us the debtor (as you go through the whole emotional upheval when you fill out the paperwork, invest time in sending it off) and then its refused anyway. It seems like a waste of everyone's time especially the debtors!

Hi Fudge, I would get yourself taken off the joint account as otherwise your hubby could run into problems if the bank decide to freeze the account. Is the account in credit?

Sounds like the Co-op were a big help!

I haven't been referred to as young for a long time!

I'm not sure what will happen to your joint account - I presume your hubby will be liable for the overdraft but maybe Melanie or Catullus can help on that one.

would be helpful to know - the poor chap at smile (coop) stuttered his way through the conversation saying I think but couldn't be sure - bless him I felt almost sorry for him!
I don't want to affect my husband with this so would be good to get some clarity - I like your new picture! I need one! picture I mean!

If you want anything special ask Admin if they can design one for you - otherwise there's a list on profiles (I think).

Well after a tough year my bounce is returning so I decided my avatar should show that! I've been subdued for far too long! My friend used to say I reminded her of a labrador puppy - bounding and boisterous!

On the question of removal from joint accounts (presumably current)the answer lies in whether the account is overdrawn at the time of the request.

If it is overdrawn, the Bank does have the right to reject the request and, of course, both parties are liable for the full amount of the debt.

If it not overdrawn then I do not think that the Bank has the right to refuse a request to take one party off the account although I believe that they would require both parties to confirm the instruction

Just a thought, but we have a Nrock credit card, but really it’s the Co-operative Bank! So I presume they are part of the same group, would be interesting to know if, once bankrupt and people who have had debt with Nrock, are allowed a Co-op Basic Account??????

I don't think they are linked through ownership I think its more like a partnerhip, like Virgin use MBNA to run their credit cards and Tesco use RBS, in these cases the banks are mmore like middlemen.

Hi
I,m sure that NR only loan money, and it,s not their own so I think that the debt will be with the Co-operative bank.
