So its day one of my IVA (only 1824 to go lol) and had an email and call from Cahoot. They were my main creditor as well as bank but did not vote so I have great pleasure in telling them today that the IVA had been accepted. I did feel like asking them about reclaiming back charges but thought I might wait a bit first!!

I am almost looking forward to some calls now to say sorry please don't call me again I am in an IVA and you can no longer call me!!

Feeling a bit better about things now after have a sleep on it all. I was thinking I don't have to worry about finding that £191 payment due on a loan in a few days and the £200 ish i would need to pay to egg. Yes its going to be tough but better than it was.

Did still get a bill for car tax, now do I get a full year or 6 months?

Ian

Hi Hr 1350
Just wanted to say well done. It is a nice feeling to know you have only one payment to find instead of the endless bills that fall through the front door, and so nice to know the calls will soon stop. All the very best to you, yes definately not easy but so much more easy than the previous struggle and the little thigs you do enjoy are much better as you pay for them not plastic

Hi hr1350,

Well done, I am glad you are feeling good.

I had cahoot as my creditor, but did not have much bother.

I do not know how they voted as I have not received Chairman's report yet.

Hi, hr1350. I've just made my second IVA payment. I have mixed feelings about my IVA - relieved that the stress is over but also a bit sad about not being able to pay back in full what I borrowed in good faith. However, I know I’ve done the best I could.

With regard to the car tax, if you can afford 12 months do so, as you won't be looking for the money again in 6 months time and, of course, it's a bit cheaper.

It's amazing what confidence having an IVA can give back to an individual. I just wish that some of the creditors would see that IVA's are not as bad as they may might portray at the moment.

I think 12 months is a good option. I can understand feeling as if being in an IVA means we do not pay back everything but I also think that most of want will not be paid back is the interest rates which they always put up if you miss payments which means it takes longer to pay off the debt and increasing the debt with little chance of it being paid off.

I think the confidence come from not dreading the phone ringing or hating the post arriving as you knew it would contain another bill, letter etc. It means while I might not have much money every month I can budget every month as I know what needs to be paid out.

As I have not paid any creditor bills from this months wages I think I have more money than I have had in a long time but I will be taking 1/2 of what I have left at the end of the month in the contingency savings account so it has some money in there in case anything happens before I have time build it up.

That is so sensible - it will be interesting to hear how you get on over the next few months, but with such a positive attitude you will sail through it!

ref your car tax.
i buy 2 x £5 post office savings stamps a month so i can have £120 to go towards it by next year.
(i am a whizz at maths as you can see, not much gets past me!)

That's a good idea, olympic torch. I will do that from now on. We buy savings stamps from Morrisons and it's surprising how the odd pound here & there soon adds up to a worthwhile amount.

Did not know you could by stamps for the car tax will have to remember to do that for next year. Getting 12 months will also mean I don't have to have tax and MOT in the same month.

That's a good idea OT - I might start today! I hate the idea of paying the surcharge for buying a 6 month tax disc - the chancellor gets enough out of me as it is!

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is the present - a gift to make the most of.
