I think we all have a shock when we work it out and see it in black and white!!!

I hadn't realised I was as much in debt as I was...no wonder I was struggling and the IVA for me personally was the best thing I did financially in a long time. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

When I finally retrieved my head from the sand i guessed the debt was around £80k certainly no more than £100K. However when I dug out all of the statements etc it amounted to somewhere in the region of £125K - an absolute shocker!!

thanks so much for the honesty, I hope you dont mind me asking but are you having to pay back a high % of that amount? I think (too scared too open MBNA bill) I owe about £66K with o/draft but don't think I could manage paying all back even if interst stopped.

thanks x

However bad it may look from where you are sat, be assured that your chosen IP will have seen much worse and on a very regular basis.

To all intents and purposes, the level of debt is irrelevant. What ultimately matters is how much you can afford to repay and after that what solution you choose for yourself. The only thing to be really scared of, therefore, is doing nothing and allowing things to drag on.

I wish you all the best in your chosen course.

Regards.

Your proposal will be individually written specifically for you so as others say, amounts and repayments % is irrelevant.

you'll be fine a good IP and you between you will see you on your way to debt freedom very soon. x

our dividend is around 40p althou because my Husband earns quite a bit of bonus, if all goes to plan , we will repay approx 60-75p. Having said that I am pretty sure that our proposal would have been accepted even if the dividend had been much lower (everyone has different circumstances). The important thing for you is that you act now because you will feel so much better. When you get to a certain level of debt, unless you win the lottery, things can only get worse. Last christmas I thought that the only way out of the mess (which was created by me alone) was to take my own life. I wasn't in a state of depression or anything like that but I couldn't see a way out. However, after I admitted to my Husband the state of our finances I approached National Debtline and was then referred to an IVA Co and I soon felt much beter and in control once again. Since starting the IVA I have never looked back. It may not be for everyone but for me has been a lifeline.

Let us know who you go with and how you are getting on.

We all know how hard it is but only you can sort this out. Nobody will judge you and there are people in a much worse position than you.

Once you speak to someone then you can head towards debt freedom.
