harrimav - with careful planning and being frugal, you should still be able to give some treats. There's loads of things you can do with her for free, sun cheapo holidays, and remember if you carry on without taking action you could get in a worse state financially. You'll come to the right decision when you are ready, but I know I am kicking myself - should have done this years ago.

5 years isn't that long in the grand scheme of things. Five years ago Steve Irwin was killed by a Manta Ray...... Five years ago Saddam Hussein was deposed ... it doesn't seem long at all.

Dont put it off, I did two years ago think I could get out of my debt on my own,
well I paid off two loans of in that time,
then looked at c/card bills. was in more debt then before.
I talk to some one a few weeks ago now, felling a lot better for it. but if I done it two years ago, would only have 3 more years left.
IVA now over with and it was worth it.
now starting my life again,

It is a scary thought going into an IVA but believe me and like many others will tell you on here it's well worth it. Once you've started the ball rolling you will feel like a great weight has been lifted. There's no shame in admitting you need help. You've made the first step by coming on here.

Don't be scared harrimav - we've all been there and whoever you speak to will know how you feel and be very sympathetic.

Just pick up the phone and speak to one or two companies - you'll be amazed how much better you feel just by doing that.
