[:D]

Our weekly money (hubby's pension) goes straight into my purse. He always says that he is not allowed money!!

We don't have any pocket money. never go anywhere to need it!!!!

This is the last year that the school are doing the ski trip because of the high coast and the dwindling numbers of kids being able to go. I couldn't have paid £850 and made that perfectly clear to him 2 years ago when he first mentioned it but I am really proud of the way he has saved his money and sorted it by himself. I think he is chuffed with himself as well and so excited. Just as well really as I doubt we will be having any family holidays in the forseeable future - last holiday was 2009 and that was paid for with credit cards. x

My hubby has nothing. I'm better with money than him, but having said that since the IVA he is very frugal. X
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I'm happy my other 3 didn't suffer because of my IVA and although I don't think daughter (18) has suffered because of IVA I do think it's affected her more than others so when it's over she's having one of the payments to do as she wishes with. x

New suite for us first and foremost! The one we have is really on its last legs and we can't afford another one!!

Well I pay for my daughter's phone and piano lessons each month (she's 13) and I have now just decided to start giving her £30 a month from our child benefit, this is going to cover everything else and I've told her she has to earn it, so she has to now start helping out at home more, tidying up, walking and feeding the dog etc etc, also I have said that if her phone bill ever comes in at more than the contract payment is, I will deduct the extra from her pocket money. I have said I will still purchase her essentials for her like school uniform etc but anything else she has to save up for herself. I'm trying to teach her to manage her money, whereas before I would buy her bits when I go shopping and new clothes for disco's etc, I think she is now at an age where she has to start to learn to manage her money.

Maybe I'm being excessive I don't know, our IVA allows for £10 a month pocket money and the rest we fund out of our other allowances.

Have to figure out what to do for my son yet, he's only 8 so a bit young still as all he will do is spend money on rubbish each week and not save for it, I would rather spend the money on an activity for him to do each week at the moment than fritter it on tat. Oh how I wish I had taken my own advice a few years ago!!!

Yes we desperately need a new suite aswell, the one we have is 9 years old now it's leather but the leather on the seats is very worn and I worry about it going through, but the trouble is it's sooooooooo comfy!!!!, although we'll be stuck with it for a few more years yet I think yet

Don't think it's harsh Lem, think it's sensible, always been strict with all of mine. I've always been strict in the house and cleaning up and they're all tidy freaks now like me! x

I wish our sofa was comfy, its 12 years old,yes 12 and could do with a good scrub and I even considered getting some cardboard to put under the cushions as its horrible to sit on.

I really want a fancy red leather one,and would be tempted by 12 months interest free credit as we could have it paid off inside the 12 months.

Yes I know, its that terrible credit word, but if we have to save up for everything in advance we wont prove that we have learned to control our spending ways.

Paul
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

Ours is seven years old and has had a right hammering from dogs ovefr the years. The leather has started to split on one the chairs but hubby superglued it and it's ok at the moment.

It is very comfy though.

I'd be tempted with the interest free as well if you can pay it off in twelve months.
