Little and often luluj. I was in a similar position and found that slicing up loads of veg (carrots, cucumber, peppers and even an apple, stick them in a bowl of cold water in the fridge and buy loads of low fat dips. Just snack on those - I can't eat them on their own so get low fat hummous.
I don't eat large meals now, just have 5 or 6 very small meals and find that helps. And up your water intake - Mum bought me a water filter jug and I keep it full in the fridge - ice cold water is all I will drink. That'll flush your system out and make your body less sluggish.
Don't deny yourself anything - just eat smaller, or you will just crave and break the diet. I lost 3 stone at Slimming World which helped my back a lot but I can't afford to go now.
I understand as I cannot exercise. Since getting my goats however we go for small walks over the farmers field. Takes me ages to do even a few steps but it will speed up the metabolism. Although I wouldn't do it while the discs are out. I can't do it when I have a sciatica attack.

Slimming world is fab, I have lost weight easily on it without going to classes, if you need help to do it from home lulu just let me know and I'll go through the essence of the plan with you, recipes etc, its just a way of eating healthily and you can do it cheaply too

I agree there lem. I still follow the basics and now I cook everything from scratch I find you can keep the weight off. Just common sense really and the fear of being weighed!!

Thanks guys ... right now I am struggling to believe I have 4 slipped discs .... since returning from the hospital I seem to have had a relatively pain free week compared to previous ones, but having seen the MRI results I can see clearly I am in trouble and need to be careful !
I have been really careful with what I have eaten this week and ensured the fruit and veg are plentiful.....my problem is I like a drink or two and I have a husband who does too ! I have succombed to a cider tonight, but not had any all week.....normally would have one per night !
Got a meal plan worked out and have cut portion sizes down for me .... been having breakfast (which is novel) even if it is the Bervita breakfast biscuits better than nothing ...had fruit mid morning, then one round of sandwiches or a rice pot at lunch time....fruit in the afternoon and then had a meal in the evenings of fresh veg and pork steak or gammon steak one night, and rice and chicken curry (small portion and no popadoms!).....then had a muller corner for pudding...... my real problem is I cannot exercise ....I get up in the morning and drive to work, sit at my desk - very rarely do I break for a proper break cos of the nature of my job....i then drive home and by the time I have done that I am knackered and ready for bed because of the pain from my back.....have tried swimming but this made my back worse......all I want to do is walk across the downs that I see from our bedroom everyday ...that was the reason for moving here in April and I have yet to do it !

Lulu - I know it seems daunting not being able to exercise but I haven't been able to do anything for years and still lost the 3 stone. It just takes longer. It's really not how much you eat but what you eat. I would try eating salad with nuts and seeds in to give it some substance at lunchtime. I cut out bread and it dropped off. If you like, email me your address and I will photocopy the extra easy booklet which is a combination of the green and red day diet with Slimming World. YOu are not then stuck with eating either protein or carbs. You can have a bit of both.

I lost a couple of stones with Slimming World and I wasn't exercising at the time. It took a while but it really does work.

I keep thinking I should go back!

I will be of no help here whatsoever[:(] I never worried about my weight until about 9 years ago..now, I am at least 4 stone overweight and have tried every diet going.

I walk on average 90minutes a day ( brisk walking) and recently have started using a vibration plate and exercise bike.

Good luck and I will try and follow any tips too [:)]

I never have a problem loosing weight on a diet... only trouble is, as soon as I stop the weight goes back on. Currently need to loose 2/3 stone and am thinking the easy option is to wait until after Christmas.. problem with that is it will probably be 3/4 stone by then[:I]
