Hi, before going into this iva the last thing i did was to check for PPI in the hope of using the funds to aviod this iva, i used a 3rd party as i wasnt to sure at the time what to do, i always felt there maybe some to come from one particular company. However i was told there wasnt any, i questioned it and was told definately non, i then had another go myself just to make sure and was once again told no ppi. Last night i have a call from EIC via Grant thornton saying that this company now say there is some ppi and to be honest i feel that somthing underhand has been going on, not now but when i first questioned it, i was always of the mind that it was not beyond the realms of possibility that some of the PPi agency employee's may be working with some of the bank employee's to avoid payments or is that just me being cynical

I don't know too much about PPI apart from it can hold up closure of the IVA so it's probably best to let them get on with it and if they find any it will increase your dividend to your creditors and if they don't (like you didn't) you will have worked with the IVA company to conform with the IVA.

They say there is some but is there? (is that me being cynical?). And if there is how much? is it enough to have made a difference to your decision to enter an IVA or not to enter the IVA?
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

How much is immaterial, £10, £1000, why would there be some now, and not then. I smell a rat

The bane of my life!! EIC ring at least daily and send letter after letter.

I signed the waiver 18 months ago and it is still rambling on. I honestly wish I had never bothered as I am getting as much hassle from them as from the creditors before signing up to the IVA!!

There has been mention in the news over the last few months of banks now admitting claims that they had earlier denied ( I believe Barclays was one bank mentioned). In the early days they had a "blanket refusal" policy.

Until recently i always said we had no ppi to claim back .... But after receiving three or four phone calls a day for weeks i have given in and signed the paperwork for one company to investigate ..... Four years out of our iva I will be very surprised if we end up with any money out of it !!!

Quick update, we had a letter today telling us we have got £7400 coming or GT have anyway. Not bad apart from the fact this is the third time of asking having been told on 2 occasions we didn't have a claim, i believe that they have been underhand and should be held accountable for their deciet, my first attempt was via a ppi company who i told, i believe there was a claim and they said no.... is beyond the realms of possibility these 2 companies were working together to decieve,ie we make a payment to you and you say no claim to be had

Hi Downandout. There were quite a number of refund claims made some time ago which were refused. The Ombudsman went back to the banks and insisted they looked again --- subsequently they paid out !

Not only did the bank steal the money in the first place but tried hard to circumvent having to repay !

Anyway, the upshot is that many previously refused claims are now being paid out. Which is why many of the claims companies appear to be duplicating work already done in submitting new claims.
