We'd give anything to be out of ours! We've learned our lesson now and will never get in this situation again.

What a great attitude BOL that you recognise you're not ready is commendable. I also knew at this time last year I wasn't ready and do have my doubts sometimes now. I'm totally honest and have no shame in saying I'm often the most frugal person on the planet to the point of being annoying and another day I can go in a shop and the familiar want want want comes back.

It's getting less and less though so I do feel I'll be ready when mine completes.

Part of my problem is that I work in a shopping centre so the temptation is always there! It's also been more difficult since my last review as I've had two pay rises and a bonus...not that Im ungrateful in this economy. I realise how lucky I am, but it means that I can go and spend a little which leaves me wanting to spend a lot! To be honest, it was easier when I first started my iva and had no disposable income as I didn't even bother going shopping as I had nothing to spend!!! I'm in a situation where I know that given the chance, I will lend too much [:(].

To be able to recognise that now BOL is a step forward. You'll get there, we all rehabilitate in differing times no two people will ever be the same despite being in the same situation.

You'll get there BOL. For me it was a sharp shock!! Why the banks kept throwing credit at a 60plus year old is anybodies guess. I suddenly realised I would have to work until the day the grim reaper came, and did not like the thought. I was extremely lucky and used my pension lump sum payment for a F&F. My life has changed beyond recognition, I am very frugal now, but know that's the only way I can afford a holiday, so its worth it!!

It's very interesting to read that Bol because I have a feeling that I would be the same as you. I find it so hard to say no!!! When I watch QVC, which is not often, I get the feeling that I must have or even need something - quite ridiculous really. Having said that, if I had the chance to make a f & f I would jump at it and because I won't have any credit cards I wouldn't be able to overspend. x

I feel really weird when I see people on this forum wanting credit again after IVA, I don't want any credit after...maybe that is really naive and because I'm so new to IVA

There are times when a credit card is required in this life, although it should only be used as a tool and paid off in full right away. I wouldn't want credit as such, but only to be able to use a card for things like hotel reservations and car hire.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

There's no greater feeling than seeing your bank account in credit after years of being overdrawn, even if its only a penny[:D]
Have no regrets, the future is ours!
