Kazza, if you don't mind me asking did you have the surgery for the bunion? I have one and I was referred to a surgeon, although I never actually went as it seemed to ease off again. Every now and then it gets painful again and I wonder if I should go back...

Skippy: Yes I had the bunion removed and 3 toes shortened last July (2010). I didn't realise my toes were too long and my posture was out because of it.

Aparantly it's a common operation for people wanting to wear high heels. I wish. Because of my back condition, I have worn no heel at all since 1981!! It only went wrong because I walk with a limp (so they say). They re-did it and pinned it straight in Dec and it's moved again. I think it's a good op to have if you really can't stand the pain of the bunion. I am one of the unlucky ones who it's not worked for. I have something called complex regional pain syndrome now - not nice, look it up!

With hindsight I would be wary of having the surgery or recommending it but it depends on your pain levels really. I should be having my other foot done but they'll have to drag me in to have that one done!!

Paul - I know what you mean, however when you see a professional and they say it will stop the pain and help your posture which will help your back, it's hard not to jump at the chance! I was never given literature on the failure rates (I know I could have looked it up but having no idea the rate was so high I had no cause to worry). Never warned about CRPS and after 6 visits to the surgeons they then decide that maybe they shouldn't have done the operation had they taken more notice of the way I walk on my right foot!!

Still it's sunny today, I am not taking the MS meds today as I am fed up with feeling sick and I'm going to stay at home and read a good book with my foot elevated!! Maybe some choccie later if the nausea goes.

Sorry to hear the op went wrong Kazza. My friend's mum also had problems when she had it done, and has had all sorts of other problems since. I don't know for certain if the issues are linked, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I can put up with mine - it's actually a lot less painful than when I went to the doctor. I'll probably never be able to wear high heels because of my back anyway - I'd live in Fit Flops if I could as my back is so much better when I where them!

I hope you feel better and can enjoy the chocolate x
