Just been to the gym for the last time my membership expires tomorrow.I have always paid yearly just shows how easy it was handing over a credit card.[:(] I could pay monthly (dd)but it works out £33.00 a month. We also lose Lukes tax credits in april thats £40.00 a month gone.So i would love to carry on going but just can't afford it.So instead of spending 30 mins on a treadmill running or jogging in mycase i could do it outside and the fresh air free.[:)] It's made me think is there anything you would never give up in mycase ( now don't laugh) it's having my eyebrows waxed. Em [:)]

Being a parent, Em, I have already given up all that was dear to me so that the little'un gets what he needs!

I gave this some thought and really can't come up with anything I can't live without. Pre-IVA I guess I could have come up with lots of things I THOUGHT I needed, but, having done without them for a while, it seems I can live with out them!

I suppose my sanity, such as it is, is held together by Sky TV though. As our only form of indoor entertainment, cold, wet, winter evenings would drag without it.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I'd be lost without Sky as well - it's probably the only thing I'd really miss as we rarely go out anywhere so it's our entertainment.

I'd love to get rid of sky as to be honest I hate the damn TV and would get rid if I had my way, but then there are 3 others in my house whom would outvote me so for now Sky stays.

Running outside is great Em, better for you and as you say, free, plus it doesn't take up as much time as going to the gym.

What could I not give up though? I don't know really, I don't think I've had to give anything up completely so far in my IVA, we have had to modify some things to a certain degree, I don't spend as much on clothes as I used to, trips out in the car have had to be cut down, but there is nothing in particular that I've had to give up, holidays are probably a bit of a sticking point as I love my hols and we would be away 2 or 3 times a year but just can't afford that now

I could not give up my nail polish, which to me is really an essential not a luxury. I'm happy to go out without make up but would never go without nail polish. Having said that, I am now an expert at thinning down dried up bottles of the stuff!!

I gave up sky and my gym membership before my IVA trying to cut corners and save myself as much money as i could. I was lost for years, but the last 5 months ive got Tivo and wonder how have i survived without it!

One thing i couldn't give up was my biking, ive managed to keep mountain biking during my iva, trips to cannock and other national parks to get out, ive had toast at work for breakfast and dinner just to save up my petrol money to fund days out.

I would be lost without Sky but then again, we don't go anywhere or do anything so that's our entertainment.

I love it now, since getting tivo ive found criminal minds which is just great US drama? and Without a Trace which i equally enjoy. With the Tivo i get ESPN so a prem league footie match every so often, really glad to have it back. Although next month the payments increase, thankfully i will have some funds to pay it!

Tend to use ours for documentaries and films (if there are any decent ones on!!) We do have Sky Sports purely for cricket - never watch football.

Same here - I could live without Sky (if I really, really, really had to ) but I couldn't live without the forum.

Me neither - I've done the internet for so long - dial up to start off with in the early 90's. I've just got more and more addictive over the years, especially since I found the forum.
