Hi,

has anyone got any thoughts/suggestions for this?

Just finished my IVA and want to improve my UK credit file as best I can without actually living there. I;ve contacted my creditors and got the default dates sorted and debts marked as satisfied.

Vanquis and the like are all out as you have to be UK resident to get a credit card. The only thing i really have is a mobile contract with O2UK which reports to the credit reference agencies.

I now have a credit card with my Czech bank to improve my credit rating here in case I stay here for the longer term (he says after 3 years have whizzed past) and wanting to buy a house etc.

However, clearly i want to do what i can to improve my UK history in case I come home. Not really sure what else I can do to be honest.

I have a basic bank account with the Halifax and might try to upgrade when the IVA drops off. Lloyds seem to offer international accounts without stupid deposits being needed as a result of the Halifax account, just wondering if they report back to the UK credit agencies though.

Any suggestions? :o)

Have you stayed on the UK electoral roll animaleyes76? You could try a uk based catalogue company? Not sure how it works for overseas accounts.

Do you have a uk address at all?

Paul
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

I was on it up until recently, but they rgister you via your last known UK address. I'll def have to sort that out again.

My O2 contract is at my father's address. Can you believe that in 2012 O2 can't handle non UK address and told me i HAD to give them a UK address lol. Once the electoral roll is sorted a catalogue could be the way forward, thanks for reminding me... I'll just have to remember which one was included in my IVA :o)

Hi animaleyes76,

Firstly congratulations on completing your iva, mine was a few weeks before yours im still waiting for my cc from GT.

How about applying for mortgages with a view to buy to let, that way you you would have your own address here wherever you lived.

I emigrated to the USA in the 90's, i left money here to pay the mortgage & credit cards, with the view of one day returning, but decided later to sell the house. Wish i hadn't as when i eventually came back to the UK i didn't have anywhere to live but had my cards, the rest you can guess.

Regards David.
