I got a letter off HMRC stating they have taken £1224 too much tax off me, the letter says they will; either send a cheque or take it off next years tax. There is nowhere that say which option they are going to make, so I don't know if I will be a few quit in once my IVA has had its share or not.
I take it an income tax rebate is not classed as supplemental income from work and is therefore not subject to the 10-50-50 rule? As a windfall would it all be swallowed by GT?
The questions are conjecture until I know what HMRC are going to do.

Hi not sure on this, I would suggest speaking with GT and getting case specific advice. A nice amount all the same. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Certainly a questions your own IP will answer but expect to lose it as a windfall. Any amount you get to keep will be a bonus.

Got a cheque in the post this morning, phoned GT to see if I could keep any of it and was told NO, I have to pay every single penny to GT. I may just take 6 months to do this as this is the time it takes GT to get round to sorting out closing IVA's.
I thought I may have been able to at least keep enough to buy her-in-doors a new coat!

I thought that might be the case as it is classed as a windfall and as such has to be paid over within 14 days I believe.

That just isn't going to happen Kallis. I have to wait up to 10 days for my bank to send out paying in slips, then I have to find a Barclays to pay it into, then it will take 7 days to clear, then phone GT about 20 times until I get through to the right person to make the payment, then argue about why I have a prepay Master Card and not a debit card, they will insist that I will have to apply a 2% surcharge because it is not a debit card, I will argue and tell them I will deduct the 2% surcharge off the total amount as I have no intention of paying more than the cheque value. They will then advise me they will phone back later, which will take another week or so!!
My Bank is 'Secure Trust' by the way. The fun of being with a company you had no choice in selecting, ba humbug.

It's something for you to sort out with your IP.

Don't you have normal account such as Co-op?
