I have just joined the forum to let everyone know that there is light at the end of the tunnel for everyone currently within an IVA.

I completed mine at the end of last year & I am now beginning to get my life back on track.

Good luck to everyone & keep smiling [:)]

That's really good to hear! Especially when the time drags a bit and you're wishing the IVA away so debt-free life can begin.

Congratulations on your debt-free future.

Hi there and welcome, you're debt free and I hope your future is a very rosy one for you. How did you find the IVA? x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Actually I found the IVA not as bad as I thought it was going to be, although I will admit it put a strain on my marriage & unfortunately it contributed to my separation (but that's another story). I believe that if it wasn't for the IVA my life may gone gone down a very tricky path so I for one would recommend it (after looking at all options of course).

Hi and welcome.

So glad you finished ok, sorry that your marriage has suffered. Any chance you can get back on track with that?

Sorry to hear about the breakdown of your marriage but do agree an IVA isn't all bad and is a great resource for sorting out your debts. Again this doesn't suit everyone but with good initial professional advice it will suit some of us.

Unfortunately no chance of a reconciliation (although we did try). It's quite strange really, although we are separated we still have to share a joint basic account. I went to see about opening a current account in my name today but was refused due to my credit rating. I take it I will nedd to wait a little longer before this avenue opens. I will not make another attempt for a while as I don't want to jeopardise any chance I have.

That's the strange thing, they wouldn't consider that either, although we have the joint account with them (The Haliax). They have been very supportive during the IVA but I seem to have hit a wall there.

I think Lesley meant with another bank .... were the Co-op one of your creditors ? They offer Cashminders to those of us in IVA's so should have no problems with those out the other end.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014

Sorry you can't get back together.

Agree with Foggy though - you need to try a bank who is not a creditor and Co-op come highly recommended.

If you go for the basic cashminder, this can only be opened over the phone or in branch but you shouldn't have any problems.
