To be fair the value of the car isnt the issue, its the value of things he may hit while out driving!!!

Big car for a teen, although quotes for even a corsa worth 2k may well be into the 4 thousand mark!!!

Get him to do the pass plus lessons and test, its well worth it as long as he doesnt have any bumps!!

Paul
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

My daughter was quoted £3k 5 years ago when she passed her test and that was for a Fiesta 3rd party fire and theft!! She still has to pay a hefty premium even though she is now 23 and has full no claims!!

My first car was £30 and I'm afraid that my dad di my insurance with me as a named driver - you could do that way back in the early 70's!!!

I used to drive for pleasure in those days - I could afford to!!

I worked at a petrol station when I was 16 for 18 months and people would come in and put £1 worth of petrol in the tank and it was almost full!!

Those were the days!!!!

I used to love driving when I was young - I'd go out on my days off and just drive because I enjoyed it.

I still enjoy driving but it is usually just between home and work and I have my CD's blasting out on the way!!

My son drives a Golf 1.4 and we were quoted £2400 for his first year. As he had been on a moped for a year Tesco let him have 1 years no claims which bought it down to £1700. Now age 23 he pays £700. When he had his car off the road due to a breakdown I tried to put him on my insurance for my Peugeot 205cti but was told that as he was a student they wouldnt take him, and to put him on the Freelander would cost an arm and a leg infact cheaper to buy another car for him to use for a few weeks.

I have a little old 306 diesel used just for the school run which cost me £250 and I pay more than that a year to insure it - being 37 and having full no claims discount!
Completion Certificate received September 2012.

I pay just over £200 a year for our insurance for a six year old Skoda and that's fully comp with one named driver.

I think my daughter pays about £400 for hers.

It's a disgrace - all due to the spurious claims people make these days when they have a bump.
