I am in an IVA with mcambridge duffy and I receive DLA - is this calculated as 'income' as it is exempt from every single other form of benefit calculator - DLA is to help someone and I think mine was seen as part of income and I am struggling, have asked for a review as am 5 months into IVA and also going to study at Uni in sept so need to reduce stress levels!

DLA will be counted as income as far as I am aware but, you may be able to offset this as far as the IVA is concerned.

On a different tack - you had expressed interest in coming to the FF summer do - is that still a possibility?

It should be included in the income and then shown as additional expenditure. So if you have mob rate, you should have listed additional travel costs. If care rate, shown how this is needed over and above the normal allowances in an IVA.

Mine was disregarded immediately as I have a motability car.

I have found McCambridge Duffy very helpful so if they can do anything for you they will. We do have a couple of their team who post on here (look at the ask the experts a question section) so you could contact one of them by email.

DLA has to be included as income, but there should be corresponding additional expenditure associated with your disability to set off against this, therefore giving a neutral position so far as the benefit is concerned.

No probs was joking really as I am proud I got into uni with an IVA and have been doing an Access course aswell and I am well over 40 ! so I am treating my uni career as a fresh start and hopefully get a well paid job so I can pay off debts. The people on here are great and 'get' what happens when you feel down and ashamed of the debt. I am determined to turn my life around and this forum has defo made it so much easier!
