Well, tomorrow is a first for us, after years of holidays to far flung places including Florida and Gambia, this year unsurprisingly funds won't stretch that for so we are going on a 4 day £60 trip courtesy of that wonderful tabloid to Haven Porthmadog and I can't wait!!!

So I won't be around for a few days but will give you all a full trip report when I get back, probably not quite as exotic as Peejayels Egypt trip will be later this year but, it's a break all the same

We have been there!! We had a great time. I love Porthmadog, its a lovely place for a holiday. Portmeirion is a good day out, visit the tourist information first though because somethime they have discount vouchers, especially for this time of year. There is a small railway in porthmadog that is also lots of fun especially if you have kids and much cheaper than the main steam railway. The only thing i would recomend is if you have a small fan heater, take it with you as our caravan wasn't very warm, but maybe we were unlucky! Other than that it was fab, hope you have a good time, we are off in our trailer tent in 2 weeks time to park resorts near conwy with our 1 and 4 year old not sure its going to be a holiday!!

lem, I am sure it will be as good as our trip, knowing it is all paid for and no little frightening envelopes to fall on the floor when you return makes it even better for you. I hope you have a fantastic time,I can't wait to read your report, fingers crossed the sun shines for you.

Hope you have a good time Lem, and get some decent weather. It's a good base to get to around the area as has been mentioned, the railway up to Blaenau Festiniog, along to Portmerion, Conway Anglesey, etc and if you like home made cakes look out for a cafe about 50 yrds from the Railway Station that has some "small" portions of Lemon Meringue Pie.

We have been on the "Sun" Holidays most years for a number of years around different parts of the country, in the past being an extra holiday but more recently being our only holiday, some have been better than others but the ones that were not up to much we just used as a base to explore the area. The Porthmadog one was not one of the "worse" catergory ones.

Thanks ST1100, car is all packed and we are more or less ready to go, don't have a lot of spare cash to do much while we are there, hoping the weather stays ok so we can get out walking, kids will have the pool and we can explore a little bit of the area, meeting up with my brother tonight who is staying in caernarfon so that will be nice.

As a teenager I used to pack my tent and weekends clothes on a thursday night, on friday straight after school I would walk round the corner to the National bus station and jump the coach to Porthmadog. There was a small camp site up by black rock sands that I spent great summers at with some really great friends.
Last Payment made 04/12/14. Completion Certificate 25/7/15. IVA company GT. No Issues
