Hi guys

Does getting divorced affect an IVA? Could it fail even if you can still paying ur half?

Are seperation rates higher amoungst us?

Yes, I see things quickly going downhill for me.

I cant believe this is happening to me. [:(]

Although I don't know the answer to your questions Miak, I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. Hopefully one of the experts will be along shortly to give you some advise. Take care x

I believe that your IVA will just carry on if you can afford to pay it. Tf they are interlocking then they can be seperated and he will have to pay his own.

Have you thought about how you are going to pay extra housing costs as well as the IVA as presumably you will be living in seperate houses.

hi Miak

If I were you I'd make a new post on here titled something like help and then the name of your IVA company, that way you can get first hand help I hope, unless there is any chance of a reconciliation in the immediate future then try and sort it out between yourselves first if this is possible maybe?

If not, if you haven't done it already request a call back from your IP directly and in confidence. Put the request in writing on email. I'd keep this to yourself for now if I were you, then you can talk through your own case with your IP and express any worries or concerns you have in relation to a divorce so that your IP can hopefully cover your best interests.

If you are worried about talking to your IP write down in advance what you want to go through when you speak with them and don't forget they are human. Be assertive though.
best wishes

Oscar

If you did want to alert your IP on the forum then you should just edit the title of the thread - it's a bit confusing if there are a couple of threads going for the same thing.

Really sorry to hear your news - so long as you can continue to service the IVA payments it won't affect things, but equally you need to discuss with your IP to ensure you receive the support and possibly a review of circumstances to ensure you continue to pay the correct amount for your income etc.

It is a difficult time now - but we are all here routing for you and will continue to do so!

Thank you everyone

My IP is not on this forum which is a shame, I may ask her to have a look... they are great and have been very good to us so far.

I have three weeks on my own coming up, need to put my thinking hat on... I worked out our finances over the weekend and there is no way we could afford two rents and a mortage on our income.

Think this is what they call between a rock and a hard place.

I am just taking one day at a time. Its all I can do, or I will go mad.

Thank you guys. xx
