My turn to moan about cars! I went to Sainsburys after work tonight and when got out of the car I noticed that one of the tyres looked flat. I went to the petrol station and the pressure was down to 5 PSI and as I was looking at it I noticed a great big screw in the tyre!

I'm just hoping the tyre stays up as I can't get anywhere to sort it out until tomorrow evening or Saturday morning, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed they can repair it and don't find any problems with any of the other tyres!

Not good Skippy. Fingers crossed that you don't have to buy a new tyre!!

try not to drive on it too much tomorrow - once the nail reaches a certain point the pressure will not be retained.....here's hoping it is a repair job not a replacement !

If Dave can take me to work tomorrow I'll be ok, if not I'll have to take a chance unfortunately as I've got no other way of getting to work. I can't go in late to get it done early as I've got too much going on at work. What a pain!

Only one of those stupid space saver ones and I don't know how to change it and Dave was shattered after working all day so I didn't like to ask him to do it for me!

Mine was my own fault, dense as I am, I kept thinking this doesn't feel right but didn't think to pull over, drove to son in law and said look at the car and he said 'what the flat tyre?'

Must admit that I have changed wheels in the past but couldn't do it now. It's a quick call for roadside assistance these days!!

Skippy, it'll depend on where the puncture is on the tyre, if it's in the tyre wall then unrepairable, if it's in the groove of the tread then a repair is ok. Leave the screw in the tyre to make it easy for the garage to locate.
Changing a wheel is something every able bodied driver can do, practice on your car before it's necessary and you will reap the benefit of knowing how it's done or even offering a helping hand to another driver in distress.[:)]
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.

Funds paid to date accepted as F&F 16th August 2013, the wait for completion begins.
Wait over....certificate recieved 3rd May 2014

I have never tried and to be honest don't think I ever will, I'll ring someone or hopefully a kind soul will rescue me...although I do appreciate the danger of strangers etc., x

Hope you get it fixed as a repair Skippy rather than a replacement tyre. x

Dave very kindly put the spare on for me this morning and I'm taking it to the tyre place tomorrow. The screw is straight in the centre of the tyre so fingers crossed they can repair it!

I did try to change a wheel once but the stupid garage had tightened the wheel nuts so tightly and the car came with such a feeble wheel brace that Dave had to come out and do it for me. He arrived to find me with the wheel brace attached to the tyre and me standing on it bouncing up and down to try and loosen it!

Now if he couldn't do it I'd call the RAC!
